Economic Development News

Margaret Collins took my classes in Land Use Law and Housing and Urban Development at Washington University Law School while she was doing her MA in Urban Planning. Although she was not a law student, she ranked every class. After she graduated, we collaborated on a number of papers, articles, and studies on development incentives for urban revitalization. This culminated in the publication of the book, Reviving Cities with Tax Abatement, which we co-authored. Margaret’s sections on economic impact analysis of redevelopment tools formed the core of the book, which has been very well received.

Cambridge Economic Research has been a consultant to our agency on a number of key industrial development projects. They have been of great assistance in packaging tax and industrial development incentives, securing federal funding for projects, and in targeting candidate industries for our marketing campaign. They have demonstrated a high degree of initiative and professionalism in dealing with our staff members and with target companies.

I have worked with Margaret Collins on a range of economic development projects. She brings a unique mix of public and private sectors coupled with solid intellectual framework. She has a facility for getting to the crux of the matter and presents her findings in a way that is clear, concise, and to the point, an ability too often found wanting in consultants to government agencies. I strongly recommend her work.

Chief Counsel & Staff Director, Senator John Danforth, Washington, DC
Ms. Collins worked for us as an Industrial Market Analyst for two years. She displays a high degree of integrity and judgment in her work with us and has shown considerable initiative in her work with us on identifying new commercial and industrial markets for our engineering services. I consider Ms. Collins to be an outstanding professional who has contributed in a significant and creative manner to the high quality product delivered by her team.

Margaret - Just a brief note to thank you for all of your work on the Retail Impact study you did for us. You have made a real contribution to our data base and our understanding of retail markets in the US and the UK. This information is incredibly valuable to us and will form the basis of our Pension Fund Retail Investment Strategy.
