A study recently conducted by Cambridge Economic Research for the University of Louisville has been widely cited in Louisville’s business journals and television media. A full copy of the study is posted at scribd.com .
The study found that the costs to taxpayers of providing facilities and other incentives to lure an NBA team to Louisville would far outweigh the economic and fiscal benefits that it would bring to the City. Based on high costs, insufficient corporate support, and scant benefits, the Louisville Chamber of Commerce has decided not to try to compete for an existing NBA franchise.
